Port Vila, 26th February 2026. The Public Service Commission (PSC) has reinstated Mr. Jimmy Rantes to his substantive post as the Director General for the Ministry of Trades and Commerce (MoTC), effective from 16th March 2026.
The decision was made during its recent meeting on 24th February 2026, following a rigorous review and completion of the disciplinary case concerning Mr. Jimmy Rantes. Additionally, the Office of the Public Service Commission (OPSC) has also served notice of end of acting appointment to Mr. Joe Ligo, Acting Director General for MoTC, effective on 15th March 2026.
This decision reflects the Commission’s mandate under the PSC Act [CAP 246] to oversee and ensure compliance with policies and the effective management of the public service. The PSC further acknowledges Mr. Rantes’ patience and professionalism throughout this period, which contributed to the stability and integrity of the reinstatement process.
The Commission also extends its gratitude to Mr. Ligo for his leadership and service in guiding the Ministry during the interim period until Mr. Rantes’ reinstatement.
