Tropical cyclone Harold and disaster responses

Since Tuesday 07 April 2020, the Vanuatu Meteorological and Geohazads Division had given the ALL CLEAR for all provinces after tropical cyclone (TC) Harold.

However mostly affected areas included the provinces of Sanma, Penama, Malampa and Shepherds group of islands. Potentially affected population and sectoral needs after aerial surveillance assessment report displayed a number of 159,474 total affected population.

The Government of Vanuatu through the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) is actively responding to the TC Harold affected population by a coordinated effort with its partner organizations.

Other efforts including disaster responses to volcano ashes, global covid19 and other disaster preparedness have also been very vital for the government in managing national disasters.
