Bibi appointed Secretary General of Public Service Commission

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has appointed Jean-Yves Bibi as its new Secretary General (SG).

Mr Bibi is not new to this position as he was occupying this role on an acting basis until his official appointment.

The position had been vacant since 2018 when former SG Jacques Gideon was transferred from PSC to the Secretariat of the Teaching Service Commission (TSC).

Mr Harold Tarosa, the current Director of Customs and Inland Revenue also occupied this particular position at one time.

Mr Bibi previously served as the Human Resource Manager in PSC and he was appointed Director of the Government Remuneration Tribunal (GRT) in May.

The Commission endorsed Bibi’s appointment last week and on Tuesday this week, his appointment was made official.

Meanwhile, the new SG is attending the Pacific Public Service Commissioners’ Conference with PSC Chairman, Martin Mahe and two other senior staff of the Commission in Wellington, New Zealand.

The theme of the three-day conference is ‘Public Leaders Delivering Public Value’.

This conference is an opportunity for Public Service representatives from the Pacific to share and discuss challenges they are encountering in their sector, and find solutions or ways to address these challenges.

Chairman Mahe said they are planning to sign MoUs with Public Service of New Caledonia and New Zealand and establish network with other public services in the region.
