PSC Chairman’s Christmas message 2018

The Public Service Commission Chairman Martin Mahe appreciates and wishes all public servants, a Merry festive season.

"As we gather with our friends and families, I want to say thank you to all who have given 100 per cent of their effort every day at work. May your Christmas holiday this year be filled with cheer, warm memories, and happiness," he said.

"Thank you for serving the people so well."

Mr Mahe expressed that a public servant, is a servant for the people and the job in which each civil servant have been appointed to, is a noble job.

"That nobility must be well taken care of, because if you look after it well, it will take care of you, in return," he stated.

"This year is been a very challenging year, the policy and legislative reforms undertaken this year has been a test to our strengths and weaknesses.

"However, I believe we have collectively taken advantage of the opportunities that are available to us.

Mr Mahe said that personally, he made time to visit three Provinces this year – Malampa, Sanma and Penama provinces and says on behalf of the Commission, "I want to say thank you to all staffs working in the urban centres and also in the provincial centers, especially the remote areas of our country."

"Even though we never get to meet, it is the wish of the Commission that all your welfare and working conditions are considered in a reasonable manner," he said.

"To those whom may have undergone disciplinary measures, I wish to say that the PSC does not tolerate breaches of rules and regulations. If you follow rules and regulations, you should be on the save side.

Mahe said that disciplinary measures are meant to help people change their bad and poor attitudes, for the betterment of this country.

"This season, I pray for many blessings to you all, a happy holiday season, and a beautiful Christmas, may this Christmas bring happiness and joy to your lives, and also the lives of your families,"he said.

"Whatever faith you come from, let us come together confident and united in the values we share, to build a better and stronger Public Service of tomorrow.

"Merry Christmas and may the good Lord continue to bless your good families, as they continue to provide that support you need."
